A step to Boost PHP or To Safeguard Windows

Microsoft has entered into a collaboration with Zend to work towards development of technologies that will enable PHP (HyperText Processor) programs to run on Windows servers 2003 and the upcoming server named "Longhorn". This seems to be a result of the popularity of the scripting language PHP worldwide and its growing number of users. Zend will establish a Windows testing lab to maintain high performance of PHP on Windows Server.
Most People deploy PHP programs on Linux/Unix, so is it a step of Microsoft to safeguard windows and avoid people from shifting to Linux. Linux and PHP have the advantage of being OpenSouce thus no expenses and that will remain the cause of PHP - Linux couple popularity, I hope.
